‘With every power for good’ : a retreat inspired by Dietrich Bonhoeffer
Wednesday 23rd – Friday 25th April 2025
With Rev Richard Littledale and Rev David Shirtliff
April 2025 marks 80 years since the German theologian and church leader Dietrich Bonhoeffer was executed by the Nazis, just weeks before the end of the Second World War. His writings and legacy still provide profound encouragement and challenge for us today.
This retreat will provide an opportunity to reflect on some of the key themes of
Bonhoeffer’s work including obedience, loyalty and hope, and inspire our ongoing Christian journey. The retreat will start at 5 p.m. Wednesday and will run until 4 p.m. Friday.
Cost per person: ensuite single £220, ensuite shared £190, non-ensuite single £190, non ensuite double £160.
This is a fully-catered retreat including continental breakfasts, lunches and two-course dinners.
Accommodation will be available on the Friday evening for those who need to stay over for travel reasons at the special rate of £40 per person ensuite, £30 per person non-ensuite B&B.
A small number of non-residential places will be available. Cost £80, to include lunches, dinners and refreshments.
Rev Richard Littledale is a writer and broadcaster with a particular interest in Bonhoeffer.
He recently revisited his works whilst writing a new book on friendship.
Rev David Shirtliff is a Methodist minister and the Warden of Thie dy Vea. His love of Germany and fascination with its history led him to discover Bonhoeffer’s work over 30 years ago.
He’s been hooked since!
